Munia: patronage and communities with Bitcoin Cash

Support people and projects, receive contributions, and share BCH.

Munia is a patronage and community platform where you can support other people directly, receive contributions for what you do, and bring people together around a project, an activity, or a shared interest.

It brings together donations, memberships, messages, and distributions using Bitcoin Cash (BCH), connecting financial support with community participation and opening up new ways to collaborate.

You can create an account without identity documents or KYC verification. The integrated personal wallet is non-custodial: you control its keys. You can also use the BCH you receive in your wallet outside Munia.

What can you do?

  • Give and receive support. Donate to other people through their profiles or posts, receive contributions for your activities, and send private messages with BCH attached.
  • Create your community. Set access conditions, membership tiers, prices, and durations. Talk with members, receive messages with contributions through Donachat, and organize polls.
  • Share through CashRains. Distribute BCH among community participants, either equally or in proportion to their contributions to the creator. You can also send a Cashrain everyone, a global distribution proportional to the recipients' historical contributions to Munia.
  • Explore and participate. Discover communities and their activities, support what interests you, or redeem a voucher you have received to start using BCH.
  • Publish and support messages. In Global Blockchat, you can publish public messages on the BCH blockchain and donate to other users' posts. Publishing currently costs 1,000 sats plus the network fee; the text is recorded permanently on the blockchain.

Support can keep circulating

Someone can receive contributions for a project and share part of them with their community through a CashRain. Recipients can use that BCH in everyday life, support someone else, or share it in another distribution.

The same person can support others, create, and receive support. Contributions can sustain activities, recognize participation, and become the starting point for new collaborations.

Each community can develop its own ways of working. Each user can find different ways to contribute, share, and benefit from others' participation. These connections can lead to projects, opportunities, and mutually beneficial relationships.

Munia aims to provide tools for exploring these possibilities, with room for the aspirations and creativity of the people who use them.

Bitcoin as money between people

Bitcoin began as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system, as presented in Satoshi Nakamoto's white paper: Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System.

When Munia speaks of Bitcoin as money, it means Bitcoin Cash (BCH): money for making payments, supporting others, and sharing anywhere in the world, with transactions that can be verified on the blockchain.

Monetary sovereignty means being able to use your funds and decide whom to exchange them with. Munia aims to connect that autonomy with spaces where people can meet, collaborate, and build together.

How Munia is supported

Munia aims to fund its development and maintenance through contributions from its community.

Each weekly pool sets the percentage allocated to cashback for eligible contributors and the share allocated to Munia's operator, according to the distribution rules and costs.

Cashback is calculated in proportion to each user's eligible historical contributions. Your previous contributions continue to count in future distributions.

Amounts depend on the available funds, network costs, and the system's minimum payout amounts.

Your money and your account

Some mechanisms, such as donation pools, vouchers, and certain reward deposits, use funds managed by Munia until they are distributed or settled.

Keep your username, password, and your wallet's 12-word recovery phrase safe. Those words let you recover your funds in another compatible wallet; they currently do not restore access to your Munia account. Munia cannot reset a forgotten password.

A project open to new possibilities

Munia is under development and aims to move progressively toward greater decentralization.

Its purpose is to provide infrastructure where different forms of participation and voluntary economic collaboration can emerge. Its tools will continue to evolve with users' ideas, needs, and creativity.

Anyone can support. Anyone can create. Anyone can receive.

Welcome to Munia. 💚
